– The Catholic Ladies Aid Society Grand Council celebrated 115
years at a convention hosted by Santa Rosa Branch 9 from June 16
through June 18.
GILROY – The Catholic Ladies Aid Society Grand Council celebrated 115 years at a convention hosted by Santa Rosa Branch 9 from June 16 through June 18.

Joyce Gressel from Branch 9 was elected grand president. Many of the delegates were from the Bay Area. Attending from Gilroy Branch 6 were President Felicia Rosas, Bruna Goold, Aurora Erojo and Marie Pirozzoli.

The Gilroy Branch won the top award for getting the most new members during the past 12 months. It distributed half of the $2,000 to St. Mary School for scholarships and half to St. Joseph Family Center for the needy.

The C.L.A.S. branch in Gilroy is the only one in the San Jose Diocese and all its proceeds are used for charitable needs. It also staffs a religious store at St. Mary Church.
