Jeff Rosen, a Santa Clara County deputy district attorney who is running against his boss for her job, received the support of the Santa Clara County Deputy Sheriffs’ Association.
“This endorsement is particularly special, because I have worked closely over the years with our local Deputy Sheriffs,” Rosen wrote in an e-mail.
Rosen said he was excited and honored to receive the deputy sheriffs Association endorsement. He is currently on a leave of absence from the District Attorney’s Office and will return June 14, according to his voicemail.
District Attorney Dolores Carr was not immediately available for comment Thursday afternoon.
In a written statement, Matt Dutra, president of the Deputy Sheriffs’ Association called Rosen “an outstanding prosecutor and a person of impeccable integrity and ethics.”
“Everyday the Deputy Sheriffs of Santa Clara County stand on the frontlines (sic) in the battle to protect families and preserve justice,” Dutra wrote. “It is critical for our deputies to be fully confident that the Office of the District Attorney is standing with us to ensure that the criminals we put in jail are brought to justice. As our county’s next District Attorney he will bring energy, leadership, and good judgment to the criminal justice system.”
