The Gilroy Chamber of Commerce board endorsed Los Gatos Town

Supervisor this week.
The Gilroy Chamber of Commerce board endorsed Los Gatos Town Councilman Mike Wasserman as Santa Clara County’s District 1 Supervisor this week.
The board voted for Wasserman on Tuesday after an election forum, which the chamber hosted jointly with the Morgan Hill Chamber of Commerce. Wasserman’s views are in line with those of the local business community, said Susan Valenta, president and CEO of the Gilroy Chamber of Commerce. In addition, he has a strong track record in both the public and private sector, she said.
“He’s a business owner,” Valenta said. “He understands business development, he understands the importance of economic development to our region and he also understands the role of public service.”
Wasserman has served as mayor of Los Gatos and he served on the Los Gatos Town Council before that.
He has owned and operated a data processing company, a sports memorabilia store, a property management company and a financial planning firm.
The chamber’s endorsement comes after Wasserman was endorsed by current District 1 Supervisor Don Gage, who will be termed out at the end of this year.
The Los Gatos mayor also received the endorsement of 25 current and former mayors, and Valenta said that demonstrates that he has the respect of his peers.
Other contenders for District 1 Supervisor are Gilroy winery owner Thomas Kruse, former San Jose City Councilman Forrest Williams, nonprofit foundation executive Teresa Alvarado and Gilroy City Councilman Peter Arellano.
