Six departing seniors receive deserved honors during Senior

They’re at every football game, basketball game, pep rally and even the occasional soccer game.
They’re the Gilroy High cheerleaders. And on Wednesday, six of them celebrated Senior Night.
Alongside the boys basketball team, seniors Adriana Copado, Jennifer Meazell, TeriLe Murphy, Nichole Parker, Tami Spangler and Jessica Stone were honored before the Gilroy/Salinas basketball game.
“I think people don’t realize that these outstanding performances don’t just happen,” said Gilroy coach Shirley Nunes . “They take hours and hours of practice outside school.”
From August through March – and for the longest season of any sport – the cheer squad practices three times a week, perfecting their routines under the guidance of Nunes and Donya Maiorino.
“They have the love,” Nunes said.
