Gilroy – George Chiala Farms upset defending champion Pizza N’ Stuff 65-56 Tuesday to improve to 2-1 in the second half of the Men’s D League basketball program at Solorsano Gymnasium.
Cliff Donnett hit two three-point field goals and went 10-for-11 from the free throw line to pace the Farmers with 27 points. Brandon Greene added a pair of 3-pointers while making 12 points for the winners. Michael Bright helped the victors with 10 points.
Pizza N’ Stuff, a 26-25 leader at the intermission, utilized 24 points from Mark Cisneros and 20 from Charles Perales.
The Money Makers remained atop the six-team league at 3-0 by topping Morgan Hill Garage Door 74-35.
Joseph Abundiz anchored the balanced Money Maker attack with 26 points. Michael Moisa provided 22 points, Steve Huerta had 14 and John Barber had 12 for the league leaders. Joe Wortham paced the Morgan Hill Garage Door attack with 13 points. Rick Hattaway added nine for the Doors.
Anritsu joined Chiala Farms at 2-1 with a 60-39 decision over Headstart.
George Martinez and Adam Supnet each popped in nine points for Anritsu. Gil Barry worked inside for eight points. Bob Lemmon scored his 14 Headstart points in the first half.
Valerie Smith Intero reached 3-0 for the Men’s DD League second half with a 60-50 win over the Tri-City Warriors Wednesday at Solorsano Gym.
Al Angulo highlighted the Intero offense with 18 points. Daniel Fauss added 13 points for Intero. Kevin Steele scored all of his 12 points in the second half as Valerie Smith erased a 25-19 halftime deficit.
Gilbert Ermitano struck for 16 points to lead the Warriors. Christian Rivera collected 12 points, Jerrell Morales 11 for the Warriors.
Handmade Healthcare moved to 2-1 by defeating the Titans 62-49.
Brit Bigelow sparked Handmade with 20 points. Richard Ruiz notched 13 points, and Robert Rodriguez had 13 for the winners. Mike Little canned four 3-point field goals in an 18-point showing for the Titans. Craig Courtney followed with 14 Titan points.
