31 at the Gilroy CHP office, located at 740 Renz Dr.
The California Highway Patrol is offering a free driving safety class for young drivers and their parents at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 31 at the Gilroy CHP office, located at 740 Renz Dr.

“Start Smart” is a two-hour instruction course taught by CHP officers designed for new and future drivers ages 15 to 19, according to a CHP press release.

Officers will outline factors that contribute to fatal accidents and how they can be avoided. Some of the officers are expected to talk about their experiences investigating fatal crashes involving teen drivers.
