Several times each year, local director John Bisceglie and Gilroy Children’s Musical Theater hold youth movie musical auditions and hundreds of Bay Area youths come out to audition for their colorful and original feature films. They offer a fun opportunity for kids to appear on camera in a full-length movie in a professional movie theater. Regardless of talent, age or experience, their policy is to cast all kids ages 5-21 who audition.

The Gavilan College Board of Trustees has identified the recipients of the 2013 Community Spirit Awards, spreading the honors to individuals, organizations and businesses from Morgan Hill, Gilroy and Hollister.

Commuting to the Bay Area from Gilroy is about to get more expensive. Caltrain’s fares will increase Feb. 28, after the railway’s board of directors approved the hike earlier this month. Parking fees will also be going up.
