GILROY – Cosa Nostra moved to 2-0 atop the Men’s Winter E League standings Friday with a 22-7 victory over Covenant at Gavilan Sports Park.
Matias Franco and Mike Sandoval tagged home runs for the co-league leaders. Mario Escudero drove in three Cosa Nostra runs with a triple and two singles. Tim Adams went 3-for-3 for the 1-1 Covenant Builders.
The Slammers are 2-0 after a 28-16 nod over VFW Bingo. Ed Cordia hit two home runs and Jesse Marquez hit for the cycle for the Slammers. Mike Estrada drove in three Slammer runs with two doubles. Matt McKay went 4-for-4 and Frank Perez Jr. went 3-for-4 and scored three runs for VFW Bingo.
Gabriel Rodriguez drove in five runs with a single, double and triple to key a Boss Hawsg 25-3 decision over Blackout Window Tinting. Alex Pena went 2-for-3 for Blackout.
Talk Alota Ship is alone atop the Men’s D League at 2-0 after a 15-13 edging of the Rebels in eight innings Friday at Las Animas Park.
Anthony Lucio’s sacrifice fly in the bottom of the seventh gave the Rebels the tying run. Tracy Sustaita and Michael Mendoza cracked RBI-singles in the Ship eighth frame.
Mendoza went 4-for-4 and Anthony Contreras came off the bench to go 3-for-3 for the Ship. Jose Hernandez and Jarrod Hernandez each delivered four hits for the Rebels.
Aladdin’s Bail Bonds-Carriero’s topped Los Chilotes 23-10. Mario Razo went 5-for-5, Don Hufnagel homered and Matt Hernandez went 4-for-5 for the winners. Jesus Enriquez hit a two-run single in a seven-run third inning as Los Chilotes built a 9-2 lead. Hufnagel and Hernandez each drilled two hits in an 11-run sixth.
Rick Salinas homered in a 4-for-4 night as Dirty Dozen outlasted Get Low Players 25-11. Joel Garcia went 4-for-4 and scored four Dirty runs. Bubba Cordeiro homered and singled for the Get Low Players.
