Dear Editor,
Our classrooms should be a place where students learn and participate in the democratic process.
Choosing to be involved, or not, in The Day of Silence provides teachers and students an opportunity to participate fully, as Americans, in the democratic process.
In fact, participation in the Day of Silence is a creative and brilliant tool in the teacher’s skill set – it moves the learning experience out of textbook learning and into the real lives of students.
Good teachers teach not only through words. They also teach through their actions.
