Basic bookkeeping class
GILROY – The Gavilan Small Business Development Center will hold a workshop on Monday, July 7, from noon to 3 p.m., 8351 Church St.
Get control of your business with the basic, written, double-entry bookkeeping system, along with simple filing and record keeping techniques. The workshop will also touch on business banking, auto and petty cash records and working with an accountant. The cost is $20. Details: call (800) 847-0373.
College for kids
GILROY – All students from fourth to seventh-grade can register for Gavilan College’s “College for Kids” this summer. Students will enjoy mornings of active, hands-on learning activities in subjects they choose, plus afternoon sports and recreation to unwind. Students may choose a morning program of science, computers, Japanese, math, art, music or math, art and Spanish. Activities include swimming, gym, games, soccer and tennis. The fee includes a “College for Kids” T-shirt. The session runs from Monday, July 7, through Friday, July 25. Classes are held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Space is limited. Summer football camp
GILROY – The Myles Brinson fundamental football camp will be held for kids ages 7 to 14 from July 7 to 11. The camp will be from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at Gilroy High School. Those interested can contact Sherida Brinson at 846-5918 or register the first day of the camp. The cost is $50, and T-shirts will be provided. There will also be daily speakers during the program.
Play in golf tourney
GILROY – Gilroy Ballistik, a boys 13 and under traveling baseball team will be holding its first annual golf tournament on Saturday, July 19, at Gilroy Golf Course. The cost is $80 per player which includes a shared golf cart, barbecue dinner, prizes and raffle gifts. They are also looking for companies and individuals to sponsor specific Tees. Sponsorship amount is $50 for a shared advertisement and $100 for an individual advertisement. Call Kathy Torres at 847-2431 to sign up for this fun-filled event. All proceeds will benefit the team.
Gilroy Museum hours
GILROY – The normal operating hours of the Gilroy Museum, 195 Fifth St., are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. The museum, located in the historic 1920 Carnegie Library Building, is also open the first Saturday of each month from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Admission is free.
