View writing tests
GILROY – Gilroy Unified School District writing tests will be given to students on Tuesday, April 15. Parents who are interested in viewing the writing tests are invited to the District Office at 7810 Arroyo Circle. The writing tests will only be available for viewing on Tuesday and Wednesday, April 15 and 16. The writing tests are secured until the day of the test so parent review can only be scheduled on these days. Choirs give spring concert
GILROY – The choirs at Gilroy High School will be presenting their Annual Spring Concert Tuesday, April 15, and Wednesday April 16. The concerts will begin each even-ing at 7:30. The doors will open at 7 p.m. for seat-ing. There will be a $3 charge at the door to help defray costs for the concert. The concert will be held at Gilroy Presbyterian Church 6000 Miller Ave., off Santa Teresa Blvd. near Gavilan College.
The evening will include music from the Men’s Chorus, Women’s Chorus, Concert Choir, Concerto Delle Donne and Chamber Singers. The choirs involve over 160 students at GHS. The choirs are under the direction of Phillip Robb and will be accompanied by Ruth Winter.
The evening’s concert will include music from 13 different countries and span over 400 years of choral music. The music includes guest musicians on the tuba, clarinet and french horn. The students have been preparing since January to share this wide variety of music that has something for every listener. Details: 847-4040.
Meet special kids’ needs
GILROY – There will be a Slingerland Community Forum on Wednesday, April 16, at 7:30 p.m. at the Gilroy Unified School District Board Room, 7810 Arroyo Circle. They will discuss ways to meet the needs of struggling early learners. Details: 848-7168.
Rotary flower sale
GILROY – The Goldsmith Seeds and Gilroy Rotary Club flower sale will take place on Saturday, April 19, from 8 a.m. to noon or until all the annuals, perennials, hanging baskets and more are gone. Credit cards won’t be accepted, wagons are OK but don’t bring strollers. Refreshments will be on sale. The event will take place at Goldsmith Seeds Greenhouse, 2280 Hecker Pass Highway. Eliot school chevys night
GILROY – Join Eliot school on Thursday, April 17, at Chevys Restaurant and 20 percent of the bill will be donated to the school. Be sure to put all receipts in the fund-raiser box at the host stand. Chevys is located at 8440 Murray Ave. Take-out orders count. Details:
