GILROY – The 2004 Miss Gavilan Hills/Miss Northern California Regional Pageant will be on Saturday, April 17 at the Historic Strand Theatre, at 6:30 p.m. Twenty contestants will compete for titles of Miss Gavilan Hills and Miss Northern California and the opportunity to compete for Miss California in Fresno. Winners will earn $1500 scholarships. Special guests are Gail Heffner Henreid, who will celebrate her 20th anniversary of becoming Miss Gavilan Hills, Danielle Coney, Miss California of 1998, and Stephanie Baldwin, Miss California of 2001. GILROY – The National World War II Memorial will be dedicated at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 29 in Washington, DC. National veterans organizations across the nation have asked local veterans organizations to pay tribute in their own cities. The Local American Legion Posts 669 and 217 along with the Veterans of Foreign Wars 6309 are participating in the dedication at 11 a.m. , Saturday, May 29, at the Veterans Memorial Building, 74 W. Sixth St. Gilroy’s Company B, 184th Infantry which left Gilroy on March 3, 1942 will be honored. Reservations are required. No tickets will be available at the door. Mayor Al Pinheiro and Supervisor Don Gage will greet everyone. Lunch will be served for $11. Details: Eleanor Frusetta at 842-5671.
