Learn about the history of Henry Miller

Gilroy – Learn the history of Henry Miller at Mt. Madonna while exploring the historic Miller Estate ruins with a park ranger from 10am to noon Saturday, Aug. 28.

Discover the rich history of Mt. Madonna. Meet at the park office/visitor center. Wear comfortable shoes and clothing for an easy one-mile walk. Fee is $5 per vehicle to enter park.

Car wash benefits girls’ fast pitch team

Gilroy – Chaos Girls’ Fast Pitch Team is hosting a “Car Wash Fundraiser” on Saturday, from 8am to 4 pm at Jim’s Auto Repair, 298 First St.

Let the girls wash your car for a small donation and help them get to the 2004 Las Vegas Fall Classic Tournament.

Donations for washes are $5 for cars, $10 for trucks, SUVs and vans.

Take a bike ride along Coyote Creek

San Jose – Take a “Coyote Creek Bike Ride” from 10am to 1pm on Sunday and discover nature on this easy to moderate six-mile ride with a ranger along the Coyote Creek Trail.

Meet at the Hellyer Park Velodrome in San Jose. Bring a bike, helmet, repair kit, water and light snacks. A $5 vehicle fee will apply.

Festival promotes

video technology

Gilroy – Community Media Access Partnership (CMAP) is hosting its first “Student Video Festival” to encourage the local educational community to utilize video technology in their classrooms.

Local high school and college students, and teachers, are invited to enter. There are nine students categories and one teacher category, all specifically designed to encourage classes of any subject matter to participate. There is no entry fee and the deadline to enter is Friday, Dec. 17.

All eligible entries will be cablecast on CMAP channel 19; ED-TV. A live awards ceremony will be held on Jan. 27, 2005. All participants are invited to attend.
