in the park
Gilroy –The city’s Community Services Department presents Summer Concerts in the Park, a series of free concerts, held the 2nd Sunday of each summer month, through Aug. 13.
The event is fun for the entire family. Enjoy a wonderful evening of music in a beautiful outdoor setting. Pack along a picnic dinner, and come help “kick-off” the summer series.

Gilroy – The Garlicky Group of Poets holds its monthly poetry reading on Saturday, July 8, at 3:30pm in the meeting room of the Gilroy Public Library, Rosanna and Sixth streets. Public participation is welcome. Free.

Reek Run
on the way
Gilroy – Theater Angels Art League is sponsoring the annual Reek Run. The run is a 5k/10k Run/Walk at Bonfante Gardens on Saturday, July 8, at 8am. Cost on day of run: $30 adults and $22 for 12 and under. Pre-registration is $27 adults and $20 for others. Participates will be given a day ticket for Bonfante Gardens. The purpose of the race is to raise awareness and funds for the Gilroy school art programs.

Sun Kings perform
Gilroy – The Sun Kings will be performing at the Bonfante Gardens Amphitheater on Saturday, July 8, from 7:30 to 10:30pm. For adults, beer and wine will be sold. Tickets $25; the proceeds will benefit Bonfante Gardens Inc. Educational Foundation.

SM Horsemen meet
Gilroy – San Martin Horsemen’s Association will hold it’s next general meeting Friday, July 14, at 7pm at the California Stables. Sandi Parker will demonstrate the Parelli method of horsemanship, discuss the concept behind the Parelli method. SMHA will be barbecuing hamburgers and hot dogs, and requests members to bring a potluck item such as a salad or dessert.

Walk on the wild side
Morgan Hill – Join Jane Haley, a National Park Service docent for 20 years and Wildlife Education and Rehabilitation Center (W.E.R.C) volunteer, on a bird walk along Coyote Creek, north of Morgan Hill Saturday, July 15, from 9 to 11am. The program is free, space is limited and reservations are required.
