District Candidates Forum today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Gilroy City
Council Chambers, 7351 Rosanna St., which will also be broadcast
live over Channel 17. Questions from the
viewing audience and phone-in questions from those watching on

Annual fall concert

GILROY – The Gilroy High School Choirs will be presenting their annual fall concert Thursday, Oct. 24 and the following Tuesday, Oct. 29 at St. Mary Church. The church is located at First and Monterey streets. Parking is behind the church. The concerts will begin at 7:30 p.m. with doors opening both nights at 7 p.m. There will be a $3 charge at the door to help with the choirs and their expenses for the year. The annual fall concert will include the Men’s Chorus, Women’s Chorus, Concert Choir, Concerto Delle Donne and the Chamber Singers. The Brownell Academy Choir will be performing also as guests of the high school choirs.

The fall concert, the first choral event of the school year, will involve over 200 students from Gilroy High and Brownell Academy. The Gilroy High Choirs are under the direction of Phillip Robb. For more information, call 847-2424.

Little Shop Of Garlic

GILROY – What do you get when you combine a 14-foot bulb of garlic, Motown hits from the ’50s and a John Bisceglie show? You get the new, outrageous, Sci-fi, B-Movie parody “Little Shop Of Garlic.” The play features more than 45 local young actors, and will be held in the Gilroy High School Theater for one last weekend. Performances are 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, with matinees Saturday and Sunday at 2 p.m. Admission is $10 for Friday and Saturday evenings and the Sunday matinee; $8 for Saturday’s matinee. Christmas craft fair

GILROY – St. Stephen’s Church at the corner of Broadway and Wayland is sponsoring a Christmas Arts and Crafts Fair on Friday, Oct. 25 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Oct. 26 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Artists will showcase hand-crafted jewelry, pottery, angels, door wreaths, Christmas decorations, and more. Lunch and baked goods will be available, as well as a raffle on Saturday. Admission is free. For more information, call Tom Olcott at 847-8294.

Cheer on the Mustangs

GILROY – Gilroy High School will host a marching band and color guard competition at the high school’s stadium on Saturday, Oct. 26 at 5:30 p.m. It will feature at least 16 Bay Area bands and color guards. Face painting

GILROY – Goodwill of Santa Clara County is getting in the Halloween spirit. Goodwill, located at 845 First St. in Gilroy, will offer face painting for children from 12 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26. Haunted ranger station

GILROY – Visit Coyote Lake County Park on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 26 and 27 for the second-annual Coyote Lake haunted ranger station. Check out spooky critters, bob for apples, play games and activities and have some Halloween fun. Event runs from 5:30 to 10 p.m. both nights. Costumes are optional. Spaghetti dinner

SAN MARTIN – San Martin Lions Club will hold their Annual Spaghetti Dinner on Friday, Oct. 25. The dinner will last from 5 to 8 p.m., with Country Western dancing from 8 to 10 p.m. The dinner is $6 for adults, $3 for children. The San Martin Lions Club is located at 15415 Murphy Ave. in San Martin.

Live Oak 30th Reunion

MORGAN HILL – The Live Oak High School Class of 1972 30 year Class Reunion will be held Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 25 to 26. Consider this an open invitation to attend the 30-year reunion for the members of the Live Oak High School classes of 1971 and 1973.
