I am writing in response to Mr. Dave Kaeini’s letter about a
book full of fantasy and adventure, Harry Potter, being against the
teachings of the church.

I am writing in response to Mr. Dave Kaeini’s letter about a book full of fantasy and adventure, Harry Potter, being against the teachings of the church. He says that good morals should not be taught through a book about friendship and good overcoming evil such as that, but through what he believes is the only good moral companion (another book full of fantasy and adventure), the handy-dandy, all-purpose Bible.
Mr. Kaeini, you come down on columnist Lisa Pampuch for “grilling” others without taking into account their beliefs, yet you do the exact same thing when you force your beliefs on her and others who don’t believe the same things you do. How are we supposed to be affected by your rant when you say, “[God] calls us to be His people in mind, body, and soul every second of every day?”
Your examples of child stupidity were rather funny if you ask me. If a kid jumps out the window because the blue flame said so, maybe something else was wrong with him before he read Harry Potter. Kids are weird. There’s not an explanation to why they do what they do. For example: how come one kid out of a million thinks that he can really fly using only a stick? Everyone knows that you can’t fly without special magic sweatpants.
Duh.
