GILROY – Dutchman’s Pizza scrambled back into the playoff picture Monday in Women’s Winter League play by upsetting Marks Tractor Service 10-2 at Gavilan Sports Park.
The loss dropped the Tractor to 3-1 midway through the winter campaign. Dutchman’s is 2-2 and in a four-way tie for third place. The top four teams reach the post-season.
Lisa Low and Barb Lemberger both singled and scored in the bottom of the first inning as Marks Tractor tied the score at 2-2. Dutchman’s responded with a five-run second, keyed by a two-run triple from Jeanne Ramos.
Stephanie Johnston and Ramos each drilled three hits for the Pizza. Low and Nicki Dequn each went 2-for-3 for Marks Tractor.
D.J. Simpson lined two doubles and two singles to propel 4-0 Goldsmith Seeds past Michael’s Mufflers 28-2.
Norma Wendt hit two singles as Goldsmith scored 13 runs in the second inning. Esmeralda Hernandez and Linda Contreras each scored four Seeds runs. Monica Perez went 2-for-3 for Michael’s Mufflers.
Corrine Casillas went 3-for-3 as Don’s Vending powered by M. Rizzo Landscaping 17-2. Kim Casillas and Kathy Van Hoy each scored three Vendor runs. Michelle Garza-Rivera hit two doubles, Sandi Liberatore two singles for M. Rizzo.
Laura Hagiperos went 3-for-3 and scored four runs to lead M&M’s past Chilicas 21-6. Cindy Barnes, Karen Turnland, Tammy Herscovitch and Debra Grove added three hits each to the M&M’s offense. Dena Elam went 2-for-3 for Chilicas.
No Soup 4 You turned an 8-0 blanking of J. R. Brewski’s into a 3-0 record and first place in the Men’s Winter DD League Monday at Christmas Hill Park.
Jason Luna and Kurt Gitmed each stroked three hits for No Soup 4 You. Rick Hoiberg went 2-for-2 for the 1-2 Brew Crew.
Robert Val Tassel capped a 4-for-5 night with a two-run home run as Dan Keith Septics defeated St. Mary Men’s Club 19-5. Danny Rubalcalva homered and Brian Christensen, Danny Delong and Zach Snyder added three hits each to the Septics attack. Bruce Nicholson went 3-for-3 and Scott Aldridge and Mel Shields added two hits each to the St. Mary’s offense.
Victory Outreach is 2-1 after scoring 10 runs in the seventh inning for a 19-9 nod over Bomb Squad. Joel Vaca, James Jimenez and Tony Maquinalez each lined two singles in the Outreach seventh. Vince Ferranti homered in a 4-for-4 effort for the winners. Manuel Rivera scored three runs for the Bomb Squad.
