On May 1, Bob and Mary Scott renewed their wedding vows at the Wee Kirk o’ the Heather Chapel in Las Vegas, where they were married 50 years ago.
At the time of the wedding in 1954, Bob was stationed at Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas, and was flying F86 Sabre jets. Mary had graduated from cosmetology school in Santa Monica, Calif.
Those in attendance at the renewing of their vows were family members Keith and Traci Estes, Dean and Tammy Scott, Jeff and Lori Citti and Milford and Elle Scott.
Also attending were their grandchildren Sherra, Brent, Lorin, Sara and Ryan.
Leslie Bentson, daughter of Clay and Patricia Bentson, and Michael Galvan, son of Norma Najar and Diego Galvan, are planning to wed on Aug. 7, 2004 at Saint Mary Catholic Church, with a reception to follow at San Juan Oaks Golf Club.
The bride is a 2000 graduate of Gilroy High School and earned an Associate of Science degree in health sciences from Gavilan College in 2003. She is a registered dental assistant employed at Dr. Michael McKeever’s pediatric dentistry. She plans to pursue a dental hygiene career.
The groom is a 1999 graduate of Gilroy High School and served four years in the United States Air force as an air traffic controller. He is currently employed as an air traffic controller at Sacramento Executive Airport.
The couple plans to reside in Roseville, Calif.
Stephen and Linda Hussar, along with John and Shirley Young, are pleased to announce the engagement of Matthew Avery Hussar to Lisa Ann Young.
Both Matt and Lisa grew up together in Gilroy, graduated from Gilroy High School and attended Gilroy Presbyterian Church. The couple did not keep in touch in the years following high school, but found themselves both back home in Gilroy many years later. It did not take long for them to reacquaint and find that they were falling in love. Matt proposed to Lisa as she crossed the finish line at Wildflower, her second Olympic Distance triathlon. Matt is currently completing an apprenticeship program as a journeyman electrician in sound and communications.Lisa is employed by the Town of Truckee as a staff accountant.
The two will make their home in the Tahoe area. The couple is planning an Autumn wedding.
