Committee to discuss solar energy
Staff Report

Gilroy – The Gilroy Unified School District Citizen’s Environmental Oversight Committee will meet to discuss two key issues: solar power at the new high school and their first school board presentation.

Once the solar panels are up and running at Christopher High School, the district should expect to see significant savings on monthly electricity bills.

In addition, the solar panels will help remove several tons of carbon fossil fuel emissions from Gilroy’s air every week and create new jobs in the area, according to the organization’s press release.

Assemblyman John Laird, D-Santa Cruz will serve as the keynote speaker during the evening meeting.

The committee’s next meeting is scheduled for March 10 at 5pm at the district office. The public is invited to attend the meetings.
