Stevens, of Ridgecrest, died Aug. 28, 2004, at the age of
89.
Ernest “Steve” Stevens, of Ridgecrest, died Aug. 28, 2004, at the age of 89.

Mr. Stevens lived in Ridgecrest and worked at the Naval Base at China Lake for 40 years.

He also worked on the pipe lines in the Texas oil fields during his early years.

He was an active member in the Masonic Lodge and the Shriners hospital, both locally and in southern California.

He enjoyed spending many hours fishing with family and friends.

He leaves behind his wife of 48 years, Jo Stevens; sister, Ruby Fortino and brother-in-law Frank Fortino of Gilroy; sister Modeen Ingold, of San Jose; as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, J.W. Stevens; mother, Birta Stevens; brother, Roy Stevens; sister-in-law, Babs Stevens; and brother-in-law, Jerry Ingold.

Funeral services were held Sept. 2, 2004, at the Masonic Lodge of Ridgecrest, then at Desert Memorial Park where Monsignor Kevin Cleary spoke about Mr. Stevens’ life.
