GILROY – Police shut down a house off Murray Avenue where they said they found heroin, methadone and methamphetamine, and arrested five adults on drug-related charges.

“Narcotics were found, paraphernalia and other items that would indicate narcotics were being sold there,” Cpl. Chad Gallicinao said Friday.

The Gilroy Police Department’s Anti-Crime Team, which specializes in criminal gang activity, served a search warrant at 410 Gavilan Court, Thursday morning. Police expected to find heroin, Gallicinao said.

They arrested three people at the house and two elsewhere.

Arrested at 410 Gavilan Court were Martha Vera, 45, who lives there, Timothy Charles Miller, 57, of 7350 Church St., and – several hours later in the morning – Dennis James Duell, 41, of 13175 Llagas Ave. in San Martin.

Police also arrested Jose Luis Alfaro, 51, of 960 Third St., at 8:30 a.m. at Carmel Street and Welburn Avenue on charges of possessing heroin and driving with a suspended license.

Police found Rick Paul Alexander, 44, who lives at the Gavilan Court house, at 8:55 a.m. at Miller Avenue and Third Street. They arrested him on suspicion of possessing a syringe and being under the influence of a controlled substance.

Vera faces two felony charges for possession of methadone and methamphetamine, plus misdemeanors for possession of drug paraphernalia in the form of a glass pipe and a syringe. She also was found to have an outstanding warrant for suspected possession of a narcotic, possession of a syringe, possession of drug paraphernalia and being under the influence of a controlled substance.

Miller was charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of a syringe.

Duell was arrested on suspicion of possessing a syringe, as well as on an active warrant for driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol – a felony since someone was injured in a resulting accident – and being under the influence of a controlled substance.
