Former Medileaf director headed to trial

The Gilroy man who was arrested for directing suspected illegal medical marijuana dispensaries in Gilroy, Morgan Hill and and San Jose is set to go to trial for a separate case in which he is accused of embezzling $1.6 million in a grand real estate scheme. 
Goyoko “Batzi” Kuburovich will face trial Oct. 28 at 8:30 a.m. 
The grand theft allegations Kuburovich faces are completely separate from suspicions of alleged money laundering and illegal pot sales associated with his now defunct MediLeaf business that held a location on First Street.
That case is moving forward also, under Deputy District Attorney Erica Engin. A plea hearing for those charges – conspiracy to distribute marijuana, transportation and distribution of marijuana, possession for sale and money laundering – is scheduled for Oct. 8 at 1:40 p.m.
Kubuvorich is not in custody.
