Morgan Hill – San Jose Police took four Hispanic men they say were involved in a home invasion robbery into custody in a downtown parking lot Tuesday afternoon.

Police responded to a report of an armed robbery in San Jose early Tuesday morning where suspects stole drugs and firearms, according the Morgan Hill Police Cmdr. Joe Sampson.

San Jose police learned one of the suspects lived on Monterey Road in Morgan Hill. Officers watched the home at 17130 Monterey Road and followed the suspects’ car to a parking lot behind Christopher Travel about 3:15pm where police took three men into custody with weapons drawn.

The fourth man was later taken into custody at the home. They were taken to the Morgan Hill Police Department for questioning and Sampson said arrests are likely, but wouldn’t elaborate.

The incident caused a minor stir as police closed the parking lot behind downtown businesses between Third and Fourth streets for about 45 minutes.

“They pulled the car over and handcuffed one and pulled another aside,” said Brad Jones, the owner of the nearby coffee shop, as he watched out the window. “The other person, the driver, literally crawled out on the ground. Every single officer, about 10 to 12 of them there, had their weapons out.”
