Friendly Pit Bulls and a Few Dog-Oriented Suggestions for the Folks in City Hall
Dear Editor,
My name is Adriana and I have been a Gilroy resident my whole life, 22 years. I wanted to let you know that not all pit bulls are aggressive. I own a grey/white pit bull who is a great family dog, he was raised with children, elderly, and two chihuahua mix dogs (which he loves).
My pit bull has gone to obedience school and has been getting groomed since he was four months old, so obviously he is used to people approaching him and touching him.In the year and a half that I have owned him, he has been bitten/charged at by a German Shepherd mix, a yellow lab, a rottweiler, a miniature schnauzer and a border collie and not once did my dog fight back. Actually one owner told me my dog was not much of a pit bull; another owner apologized to my dog because her dog went after mine at a dog park.
All dogs are capable of biting not just the pit bull breed. I love all dogs, especially my pit and chihuahuas, and I hope that people would take the initiative to go out and become educated about all breeds of dogs. I also hope that the city of Gilroy takes the initiative to make a dog park for all the dog owners that are residents, hopefully they can make it like the one in Morgan Hill with the separate areas for small dogs and large dogs.
It would also be a good idea for the city to hold bi-weekly educational classes on obedience and the benefits of spaying and neutering pets. Also if they think that the amount of strays in Santa Clara is to high they should have free spay and neuter vouchers for low-income families. They should also make unlicensed back yard breeders pay huge fines to discourage them from breeding again.

Make Sure You Hire an Attorney Who’s Legal, Not a Masquerading Hack
Dear Editor,
I think a greater danger to the public we’re witnessing in the civil justice system is the dramatic increase in the number of unlicensed attorneys. Calling themselves such misleading titles as judgment enforcement specialists, consultants, litigation management specialists or consultants, etc., they prey upon the public.
Small business owners are especially vulnerable. It’s a misdemeanor to practice law without a license, and so if you aid and abet the unlicensed person’s criminal actions, you are also liable.
I’ve had judges disqualify them and award my client sanctions (money damages) against these predators.
Caveat Viator!
Joe Thompson, Gilroy
