GILROY – Frank Vargas Taxes clinched at least a tie for the Co-Rec Fall B League softball title Sunday with a 7-3 nod over Let’s Bang at Las Animas Park.

Mark Terrill singled and scored in a four-run first for Vargas Taxes, then lined a two-run single in the second as Vargas Taxes moved to a 7-2 lead.

Terrill finished with three hits and Cherise Martinez added two singles and an RBI for the 6-1 league leaders. Rich Chavez and Greg Lucio each slapped two doubles for Let’s Bang (5-2).

Gamers In Control ended the regular season at 3-5 with a 23-8 win over the Hustlers.

DJ Simpson went 4-for-4 and AJ Martinez went 4-for-5 for the Gamers. Kurt Gitmed hit two home runs and Vicki Velasquez stroked three singles for the 4-3 Hustlers.

Door Expo moved to 7-0 in Co-Rec C play by stopping El Fuego 17-2.

Cristina Landeros sparked the Expo attack by producing three singles and scoring three runs. Cristina Bueno added a triple, single and sacrifice fly. Myrna Rodriguez and Marcelino Cortez each singled and scored for El Fuego.

Anritsu kept post-season hope alive with a 16-11 win over Hi-Energy Networks. Anritsu (2-5) snapped an 11-11 with a five-run seventh. Ray Avena clubbed a two-run double, Andy Alarcon a two-run home run for Anritsu in the seventh. Aaron Perez and Cesar Sepuleda each homered for Hi-Energy. Isaac Sepulveda went 3-for-3.

The Borrachos outlasted VFW Bingo 18-8 in Men’s Fall E action Thursday.

Joey Flores, Abraham Hernandez and Daniel Garcia lined home runs as the Borrachos (5-3) clinched at least a second seed in the playoffs. Garcia took game batting honors with four extra-base hits. Dustin Robinson managed three hits for 4-4 VFW Bingo, the fourth seed in next week’s playoff series.

Claddagh Brew Crew also reached 5-3 by easing past Da Click 19-3. Parker Hathaway went 4-for-4 for Claddagh. Abner Salazar hit a two-run home run for Da Click.
