I agree with Doug Meier that this is a good time to let the
Iraqis govern themselves. Help them pay for the damage we did in
removing Saddam and come on back home and take care of our own
educational system, infrastructure and health care.

I would also like to see Gilroy made into a tourist attraction. We have all those inexpensive places to buy stretch pants etc. and a plethora of really nice places to spend money. We could put in an Alvera Street like the one in Los Angeles. It is a fun place to go, good music, lots of stuff to buy and the rest could be turned into our own Antique shows. We could make Monterey Street off limits to cars and let them park on the next streets over, then have those neat open street cars that drive from the parking lots to all those interesting places. Great places to eat, French, Italian, Thai, etc. … places to just sit and argue, much like the old Spit and Argue Club in old Long Beach, where the old Pike used to be. That way we could all partake in the discussions that take place in The Dispatch.
It would also be nice to have places where seniors could live right downtown. Maybe I am being nostalgic, but somehow Gilroy is a good place for that. There are some citizens who want to keep the old ways of doing things.
As for the library and pornography and the other things relating to sex, I suggest that parents talk to their children, tell them the truth about all of that and stay open to listen to them. I have an uncomfortable feeling about people who focus on sex so much, I wonder if something is missing in their lives.
