Salinas – Gilroy and Salinas are now in a tie for the second spot in the Tri-County Athletic League golf race.

For the second straight week, the Cowboys took second and the Mustangs grabbed third. Palma easily grabbed its third straight first-place finish at Salinas Country Club. The Chieftains, led by Sean Etow’s 1-under-par 35, shot 11-over 191 to finish ahead of Salinas at 205. Gilroy was third 214, two strokes ahead of San Benito. The Mustangs were led by Dan Dockendorf, who shot a season-best 5-over-par 41.

Salinas finished a close second to Palma a week ago at the Cowboys’ home course (Corral de Tierra).

“Salinas really has come on strong the last two weeks,” said San Benito coach Andy Parra.
