Gilroy host Live Oak in an 8 p.m. first-round matchup.
GILROY – The 29th Annual Bob Hagen Memorial Tournament begins tonight, as Gilroy host Live Oak in an 8 p.m. first-round matchup. The winner will play either Payson (Utah) or Scotts Valley in the second round at 8 p.m. Friday night.

Other teams competing in the varsity tournament include Alvarez, Aptos, Harbor and North Monterey County.

The tournament’s championship game will be at 6 p.m. on Saturday.

In last season’s tournament, Gilroy lost to NMC 57-47 in the finals. The year before that was the last time the Mustangs won their own tournament, beating Alvarez 89-50 in the championship game.
