Access to technology at the San Benito County Free Library has increased with the donation of eight iPad 2s.

Starting Sunday, March 17, the Gilroy Library will be open Sundays from 1 to 5pm.

Santa Clara County Library District is fulfilling a multi-year goal to open all of its libraries seven days a week with the addition of four new service hours at both Campbell and Gilroy libraries.

“Working patrons and parents have asked our libraries for additional service hours on the weekend, when they are more available to visit the library with their families and browse our collections,” said Chris Brown, deputy county librarian. “We have worked closely with the individual libraries to meet this request for new service hours for Campbell and Gilroy.”

The county library district said it has enacted these changes in response to a customer satisfaction survey on library hours.

“I am proud of our most recent accomplishment offering seven-days-a-week service for all of our libraries,” said Santa Clara County Supervisor and Library Joint Powers Authority Board Chairman Mike Wasserman. “Learning does not stop during weekends, so why should libraries?”

Gilroy Library’s festivities will feature magician The Great Jonathan on Sunday, March 31 at 3:30pm. Visit www.sccl.org for more information about the hours for all of our locations and their full event schedules.

Previously, Saratoga (1980s), Milpitas (2016), Los Altos (2017), Woodland (2018), and Morgan Hill (2018) libraries had expanded their services to include Sunday hours. Saratoga is planning to expand its Sunday hours to 10am to 6pm, effective Sunday, April 14.
