Bob Thompson passed away at his home on February 16, 2017, after a truly heroic battle with cancer. He was a dedicated and respected teacher at Live Oak High School for 38 years, retiring in 1997.
Visitation is Monday, November 19th, 2012, from 9:00 A.M. until 12:30 P.M. at the Grunnagle Funeral Home. Family and friends will leave the mortuary at 12:30 P.M. to go to Sacred Heart Church for a Mass at 1:00 P.M. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
A visitation takes place Friday, February 12th, 2016, from 4:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. followed by a funeral service at 7:00 P.M. Born in Monterey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, Juana has been a Gilroy resident since 1964. She passed away March 6th, 2007 in Gilroy at the age of 73, to join her husband Jose F. Quintanar, her daughters Petra H. Cruz and Virginia P. Quintanar and her youngest son, Leonard P. Quintanar. She was the loving mother to Ricardo (Pilar) Quintanar, Helen Salinas, Georgia (Moises) Fuentes and Gloria (Juan) Ojeda and a devoted grandmother to 20 and great-grandmother of 29. She was a dedicated cannery worker for 20 years at Gilroy Foods. She was a hard working women with a strong will to live and celebrate life. She was a born again Christian who cared and loved everyone she knew. We were all blessed to have her as a mother and all who knew her, loved her for who she was . We will always love you and have you in our hearts. We will always carry your memory throughout the years to come. God bless you always, Mom!
Ethelmae was born in Sacramento, CA. to Garrett and Maybelle Pylman. Her early years were spent on the Courtland ranch with her brothers, James and Robert, and sister Emeline. The family enjoyed their summers in Capitola, escaping from the heat of Sacramento. While in high school, she met the love of her life and her husband of sixty-six years, Ernie Smith. They were married on Valentine's Day, which was her birthday, and continued to farm in the Sacramento area.
Born in Preston, Oklahoma, he was one week shy of 85 years old when he died in Medford, Oregon. Preceded in death by his wife, Miranda Canzada Coker Jones, and his son George "Woody" Jones. He is survived by his generous older brother, Will "Floyd" Jones, 88 years old of Central Point, OR, his two daughters, Barbara Jones Redmond of Santa Cruz, and Shirley Jones Stockwell of Willits, CA. He is also survived by his three grandchildren, Kimberly Redmond Ott, Brian Erk, and Cyndi Claxton, and four great-grandchildren, Ashley, Christopher, Travis, and Katelyn all of California. He died with his nephew Charles "Chuck" Cole at his side, whom he always described as being like a son, along with his caretakers, to whom the family is very grateful. May God keep him and bless his soul. He will be returned to and buried with his wife in Hollister. Funeral services will be held at IOOF Cemetery on Buena Vista Road in Hollister on Monday, August 11th, at 10:00 A.M.
