Downtown sidewalk maintenance and caulking will begin Sunday and will affect pedestrian traffic and parking.

Pressure washing on both sides of the sidewalks on Monterey Street, between Fourth and Eight streets, is scheduled from 6 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Sunday and Monday and will be closed to all pedestrian traffic. The City of Gilroy will post “no parking” signs Friday for these dates. Once a block of sidewalk is cleaned, pedestrian traffic and parking will resume after street barricades are removed.

Joint caulking of Downtown sidewalks will be scheduled from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Nov. 17 through Nov. 24.

The daily caulking work will not interfere with pedestrians or parking and a cover will be placed on the completed caulking work to dry, said public information officer Joe Kline in a press release.

For questions or concerns, call the Gilroy Community Services Department from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday at 846-0460. For after-hour calls, contact the Gilroy Police Department’s non-emergency line at 846-0350.
