The Christopher High girls basketball team sliced an eight-point halftime deficit to two points entering the fourth quarter in second-day action at the Dons Club Holiday Tournament in Campbell.
However, the Cougars’ rally fell just shy of their goal in a 35-31 loss to King’s Academy.
“In a sense, we gave the game away in the first half with our unforced turnovers,” CHS head coach Heather Stewart said. “But we played much better tonight. It’s progress.”
Hanna Tabron, who scored 22 of the team’s 24 points in a loss to Leigh on Monday, again lit up the scoreboard with 21 points. Ashanti Clayton, with her five points, was the Cougars next highest point producer. Maddie Peterson and Gabriela Soria each had two points.
CHS has today off before wrapping up its stay at the tournament Thursday at 3 p.m. at Del Mar High School.
