GILROY – Unbeaten Goldsmith Seeds prepped for next week’s Women’s Winter League playoffs by defeating Michael’s Mufflers 8-1 Monday at Gavilan Sports Park.

Paula Stewart and Missy Howe each drove in two runs for the 8-0 Seeds. Nicole Lara singled home the Michael’s Muffler marker.

The Women’s League playoffs will be played Monday Oct. 13 at Christmas Hill Park. Goldsmith plays fourth-seed Don’s Vending at 6:30 p.m., with Dutchman’s Pizza playing Marks Tractor at 7:40 p.m. The two winners square off at 8:50 p.m. for the playoff title.

Dutchman’s and Marks Tractor collided Monday in the regular-season finale, with Dutchman’s needing three runs in the top of the seventh inning to take a 9-6 decision. Jeanne Ramos hit an RBI-single in the decisive rally for the 6-2 Pizza. Marks (5-3) received a 3-for-3 effort from Ana Cid-Chrisman.

Don’s Vending earned the fourth seed with a 19-4 victory over M&M’s. Liz Adams went 4-for-4, Lydia Cano 4-for-5 for the 5-3 Vendors. Missy Hice went 3-for-3 for the 4-4 M&M’s.

M. Rizzo Landscaping closed the season with a 16-1 nod over Chilicas. Kathy Morales and Tricia Garcia-Ojeda each scored three Landscaper runs. Almendra Perez scored for 1-7 Chilicas.

No Soup 4 You needed a two-run rally in the sixth inning to defeat the Bomb Squad 6-5. The 7-0 Soup turned hits by Fausto Padilla, Rich Luna and Angel Pasillas into the deciding runs. Lam Nguyen went 3-for-3 for the Bomb Squad.

John Jimenez hit two doubles and two singles to spark 4-3 Victory Outreach past 3-4 Dan Keith Septics 12-9. Joel Vaca added two triples and a single for Outreach. Danny DeLong homered and Robert Vantassel and Nick Bawdon each mustered three Dan Keith Septics hits.

St. Mary Men’s Club clinched a playoff berth with a 17-2 decision over the Brew Crew. Bob Filice went 3-for-3 as St. Mary (4-3) recorded a fourth consecutive win. Rick Hoberg and Joey Hoiberg drove in Brew Crew runs.

Dirty Dozen (4-3) moved into third place in the Men’s D pennant chase Monday with a 21-6 victory over Los Chilotes (4-4). Steve Arreaga went 3-for-3 for the Dozen. Joel Gaeta homered and Juan Contreras doubled and tripled for Los Chilotes.

The Tomcats are 7-0 atop the Men’s BB League with a 17-2 win over Pizza N Stuff Red Dogz Monday at Las Animas. Steve Pacheco went 3-for-3 for the winners, Kenny Hopf 2-for-3 for the Red Dogz.
