The Frys.com Open is coming back to South County.
Tournament Director Ian Knight announced Thursday that the PGA fall series tournament will return to CordeValle Golf Club in San Martin Oct. 3-9.
“There is an excitement in the air at the tournament office as we begin preparations for the 2011 Frys.com Open,” Knight said in a press release. “Our goals this year are two-fold: we want to increase our charitable donations and economic impact to Silicon Valley while providing fans an opportunity to watch the finest players on the PGA TOUR battle for the $900,000 first place check.”
Information on tickets, pro-am spots and volunteering options can all be found on the tournament’s website frysopengolf.com.
Last year, Rocco Mediate enthralled fans in the gallery with an eagle from the fairway on the 17th hole during the final day of competition to cap a comeback and earn his first tour victory in eight years.
The field will again feature 132 players, the release said, with a purse of $5 million.
