Great weather greeted the Gilroy High girls golf team at Gavilan College Golf Course as the Mustangs took on Stevenson on Wednesday.

GHS broke the 300 score mark for the first time this season, recording a team-best overall score but fell to Stevenson 218-299.

Head coach Daniel Valdez praised the play of the team’s lone senior Melissa Peterson – a four-year member of the squad.

“Melissa is a great young lady and she will do great things for her family and community,” Valdez said.

Peterson shot a 56 on Wednesday.

Cierra Montoya Valdez posted the low score for GHS with her 45. LaTherian Harrison carded a 55 and Kaley Lance finished with a 62.
