League Championship Series opener at Las Animas Park.
Gilroy – The Good Fellas turned a six-run sixth inning into a 10-7 victory over D. A. Wolfe Construction Thursday in the Men’s BB League Championship Series opener at Las Animas Park.
Josh Padron scored two runs to help Wolfe build a 5-4 lead after five innings. The Good Fellas gained the lead with an Anthony Ortiz single and Rich Perez home run to left in the sixth. Johnny Perez and Fernando Perez added consecutive RBI-doubles to cap the six-run outburst.
Joey Barnes homered for the winners. The second game of the best 2-of-3 series is Monday at 8:50pm at Christmas Hill Park.
New Hope Community Church rallied for two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to trim the Titans 14-13 in the Men’s E opener.
Consecutive two-out singles by Clark Poulsen, Ryan Mull and Peter Agliotis highlighted the New Hope seventh. Poulsen and Mull provided home runs and Dave Agliotis scored four times for the victors. Mike Vanni and Johnny Ramirez poked home runs and Dave Hill lined a single, double and triple for the Titans.
John DeCarlo Jr. went 3-for-3 and scored three runs to pace Feather Haven Mill by Chicks N’ Sticks 15-5 in the Co-Rec B opener.
Mike Leslie and Cherie Somavia each stroked a double and two singles for Feather Haven Mill. Benny Sanchez went 3-for-3 and Dave Perez added two doubles for the Sticks.
Jerry Johnston and Joel Garcia each homered in a five-run fourth inning as Team Hair FX trimmed the Ball Hoggs 6-3. Brian Moreno went 2-for-3 and scored twice for the Ball Hoggs.
Eric Contreras drove in three runs to spark Bad News past Pacific Coast Bail Bonds 10-1 Thursday in Men’s C action. Mike Gracia scored three Bad News runs. Andrew Ornelas went 2-for-3 and scored the Pacific Coast run.
Kay’s Kids in control
On Wednesday, Vanessa Pena’s two-run home run highlighted a 13-run third inning Wednesday as Kay’s Kids opened the best 2-of-3 Women’s D League Championship Series with a 17-6 decision over Toby’s Girls at Las Animas Park.
Kiely Sheppard collected three singles and Jerrica Dexter doubled and singled for Kay’s Kids. Melanie Fajardo clubbed a double and two singles, Elena Ayala a single and double for Toby’s Girls. The second game of the series is tonight at Christmas Hill Park at 6:30.
Aladdin Bail Bonds-Rhino Wiring shook off a 3-0 deficit in the first inning to open the Men’s CC Series with a 9-4 nod over California Silk Screening.
Ray Garcia and Maciel Urenda hit consecutive RBI-singles as the Screeners struck for three markers in the top of the first. Steven Aguirre’s two-run double helped Aladdin-Rhino pull even in the first inning. Johnny Andrade’s RBI-single in the third gave Aladdin-Rhino a 6-4 lead. Andrade went 3-for-3 and scored three runs. Joey Garcia went 2-for-3 for Cal Silk.
Goldsmith Seeds took a 1-0 lead in the Women’s C Series by topping Pacific Coast Bail Bonds 7-2.
Yolanda Lomas went 3-for-3 and Antoinette Bowe delivered a single and double for Goldsmith. Vicki Velasquez and Angelica Garcia each stroked a run-scoring single for Pacific Coast. Cherise Martinez went 3-for-3.
Craig Avila Bail Bonds erased a 13-7 deficit after six innings by pouring across 13 runs in the seventh for a 20-13 victory over Team Talamo in the Men’s B opener Wednesday at Christmas Hill.
Abie Espinoza and Marshall Silva each lined two singles and George Salgado Jr. hit a three-run home run in the Craig Avila seventh. Espinoza finished 4-for-4 and Leroy Dozal hit a single and two doubles for the winners. Jose Bueno went 4-for-4 for Team Talamo.
Mike Sandoval went 4-for-4 with two home runs to pace Pro Electric by No Soup 4 You 25-1. Matias Franco added a double, triple and homer to the Pro Electric attack. Kurt Gitmed drove in the Soup run.
Ralph Ortez went 3-for-3 and Paul Garcia homered to carry the Slammers past Blackout Window Tinting 10-5 in the Men’s D opener. Gabe Corral homered and singled for Blackout.
