What inspires you? The unwavering support of my family inspires me to put my all into everything I do.
What is your favorite subject in school, and why? I would say that calculus is my favorite subject. Although it can be a challenge sometimes, I love the feeling of triumph when I am finally able to fully grasp and understand a particular concept.
A current issue you are concerned about: A current issue that brings me concern is police brutality. Michael Brown and Eric Garner are only a few names on the long list of people whose lives have been taken as a result of these acts of injustice. It’s truly saddening that such acts still occur in our society, especially when committed by those who should stand for honor and integrity.
If you could go anywhere, where would you go? I would love to travel all over Europe, especially throughout France and Germany. I would also love to visit Iceland to witness its breathtaking landscapes in person and to Japan to experience its technological greatness.
Name one big challenge in your life right now: One big challenge in my life right now is staying on top of all my schoolwork while simultaneously
keeping up with the college and scholarship application process.
What is your dream job? I’ve always had an interest in math and in the arts, so I think that being an architect would be a good way to combine the two.
What are your three favorite things? In no particular order: my mother’s cooking, the color blue and the sound of rain against a window.
Favorite book: One of my favorite books is “Cloud Atlas” by David Mitchell. His unique way of storytelling, in which past, present and future are all interconnected, is interesting and thought-provoking.
What do you want to do after high school? After high school, I want to get a degree in architectural engineering and maybe study abroad for a few semesters.
Something that makes you smile: I can always count on my mom to make me smile with her corny jokes and her quirky behavior.
Top three most played songs: “Blue Monday” by New Order; “Hands” by Alpine; “Other People” by Beach House.
