Gilroy gymnasts from USA Sports capped off a strong season with top six finishes at the NorCal Level 5 State Championships hosted by Technique Gymnastics in Folsom on Nov. 10.
“All the girls worked very hard this season and can be very proud of themselves for an outstanding competition at the state championships,” said USA Sports coach Jennifer Yip.
Louisa Mantilla won the silver medal on the balance beam with a 9.0. She finished sixth in the all-around with a 35.025 – uneven bars (8.75 for seventh place), floor exercise (8.85 for eighth) and vault (8.425 for 10th).
Lauren Dean danced to a fifth-place finish (8.825) on floor exercise and nailed her handspring vault to place sixth (8.925). On balance beam, she received a 8.75 mark (eighth) and on uneven bars she scored 8.125 (12th). In the all-around Dean totaled 34.625 (8th).
Sloane Pace also posted a solid performance at the state level with an 8.525 on balance beam (seventh), 8.775 on floor exercise (eighth), 8.7 on vault (ninth) and 8.475 on uneven bars (10th). Her total all-around was a 34.475 (eighth).
