Handmade Healthcare moved to 2-0 atop the Men’s E League
basketball standings Thursday.
GILROY – Handmade Healthcare moved to 2-0 atop the Men’s E League basketball standings Thursday with a 35-29 edging of Goldsmith Seeds at South Valley.

Marco Lopez struck for 13 points and Nick Poseley contributed 11points for the winners. Jim Goldsmith paced the Goldsmith Seeds offense with 11 points.

The Titans are 2-0 after a 68-46 win over Net Magic Wednesday. Arnold Tellez and Ron Reed each scored 16 points, combining for seven three-point field goals for the Titans. Craig Courtney worked inside for 14 points. Tony Maquinalez led the Net Magic attack with eight points.

Stuft Pizza snuck past Pizza N Stuff-Toto Stingers 46-44 behind 16 points from Austin Romesberg. Al Gallegos threaded two 3-pointers in a 10-point effort for the winners. Andres Espinoza scored 14 points, Teo Ponce 10 for 1-1 Pizza N Stuff-Toto Stingers.

The Playaz are 1-1 after a 46-36 decision over Rocha’s Drywall. Louie Setterberg and J.R. Hernandez each scored 10 Playaz points. Jose Mmaciel carried the Rocha’s Drywall attack with 18 points, while Bryan Windham anchored with Drywall fast break with 10 points.

Above The Rim is 3-0 atop the four-team Women’s League after a 50-16 nod over Togo’s Wednesday.

Rae-Anne Yip, Jeanna Lyon and Christi Ledesma each scored 12 points for Rim, the defending league champion. Togo’s out-scored Rim 10-4 over the last 10 minutes of play. Gretchen Yoder ignited the Togo’s scoring in the second half with an eight-foot jumper off Mel Ponzio’s steal and feed. Jeannie Filice knocked down a 10-footer with seven minutes left, then Ponzio converted an offensive board into a layup. Lena Tabron netted two free throws, then Ponzio drained a 15-footer and two free throws to complete the Togo’s scoring. Forward Tracey Hill pulled down three rebounds in the Togo’s showing in the final 10 minutes.

Williams Dental is 2-1 after a 47-21 victory over Krazy Koyote-Dutchman’s Pizza. Maxine Chavez erupted for 16 points, while Sabrina Gutierrez and Maureen Hughes tossed in 10 points each for the Lab. Kathy Flores finished with 10 points to lead Koyote-Dutchman’s.

Bob Lemmon scored 15 points as Headstart improved to 2-0 in the Men’s D League with a 53-30 win over Mitchell Excavation Tuesday at South Valley.

Don Hall and John Blaettler each scored 12 points for Headstart. Warren Gaspar paced Mitchell Excavation with 11 points.

Gaeta’s joined Headstart at 2-0 with a 74-57 decision over Fritter-Schulz Physical Therapy. David Herrera poured in 26 points, Marmet Williams 21 and Juan Rios 12 for Gaeta’s. Gabe Gonzales dropped in 21 points, Steve Chang 10 for the Therapists.

Dutchman’s-Koyote trimmed Morgan Hill Garage 53-40 to leave both teams at 1-1. Jon-Michael Becerra scored 21 points and Dexter Amey followed with 16 markers for the winners. Jacob Garcia accounted for 13 Garage Door points.
