DEAR EDITOR:

On behalf of the Gilroy Police Department Neighborhood Resource Unit, we wish to thank the many volunteers and agencies who helped to make our Community Policing outreach event “Santa At San Ysidro Park 2003” held Wednesday, Dec. 17 a great success.

First we would like to recognize the many Gilroy Community Based organizations and Neighborhood Associations who donated treats for this event and who have always supported GPD community outreach events. Agencies include Community Solutions, Gilroy Family Resource Center, MACSA, Santa Clara District Attorney Office, Santa Clara Gilroy Restorative Justice Program, IOOF and San Ysidro Neighborhood Associations, Rogers Lane, Stoney Court and Fairview Dr. Neighborhood Associations, Hometown Buffet, Rite-Aid, Gilroy Dispatch, Gilroy Fire Department, Gilroy Police Department K-9 Officers Hollar and Quinones, Mounted Unit Corporal Kadluboski, Gilroy Volunteers in Policing and the California Highway Patrol.

Next a special appreciation goes to Santa Robert and Mrs. Claus Sue Baker. For the last eight years they put their busy schedules on hold every third Wednesday afternoon of December so that the children of the community could have their pictures taken with Santa and share Christmas requests.

Thanks again to all of the Gilroy collaborative partnerships that continuously help to make community their first priority. This is what makes Gilroy a special place. The GPD staff wishes everybody a safe holiday!
