Highway 129 reopened early this morning after firefighters contained the grass fire that burned up a hill between Murphy Crossing and Rogge Lane.

The fire that burned 10 acres broke out about 4 p.m., according to Cal Fire. Firefighters contained the blaze by 7:15 p.m. Thursday.

Eastbound Highway 129 was closed from Murphy Crossing to Rogge Lane, according to the California Highway Patrol. Cars were being detoured on San Juan Road between Murphy Crossing and Rogge Lane Thursday evening.

The fire started on the roadside and was burning near electrical transmission lines that run from Moss Landing to the Metcalf station, which could have posed a safety hazard.

There were no reports of homes or other structures threatened and no evacuations were ordered. There were two minor injuries to firefighters. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
