Dear Editor,
I am responding to your article “Home Fire Destroys Second Floor” in the paper on Feb. 8. I think that it is really mean and ridiculous that you would put a picture of the boy and his family at one of the saddest times of their lives in the newspaper.
I know the boy – he is at my school – and for you to put a picture in the newspaper that is published around town when he is obviously very sad and doesn’t want to be photographed.
At this age, kids are very critical of their looks, especially in pictures, and I feel that it is extremely rude to put a picture of him in the paper just after he had his house burned down. It amazes me as a kid how low grown up people (who you would think that they would be mature about “not getting the inside photos”) will go to get a picture for the paper. Having the picture of the house burning is bad enough for the family to look at, but their own family, looking very sad is just plain low.
