Claddagh crew wins in TOC
GILROY – After winning the boys minors championship last week, the Claddagh Dodgers stepped outside of the Gilroy Little League for Tuesday’s Tournament of Champions contest against the Live Oak White Sox.

The results were the same, as the Irish pounded out a 6-0 victory to remain undefeated in the double-elimination tournament.

Pitcher Ryan Alba tossed a one-hit, complete-game shutout to lead the Gilroy unit into Friday’s next T0C match-up in San Juan Bautista at 7:30 p.m.

Brandon Pickens was a homerun shy of hitting for the cycle, belting a single, double and triple for three runs-batted-in, while teammates Thomas Harrington and Alba had big hitting games as well.

The elite squad of 9-10 year olds received steady defense from Johnathan Castaneda, Christian Salazar, Pickens and Alba to shut down the White Sox offense.
