A judge delayed the case of Gyasi Terran Tuesday to give the
defense more time to gather evidence.
A Santa Clara County Superior Court judge continued the case of Gyasi Terran Tuesday afternoon.
The 24-year-old man, known familiarly as “Goo,” is suspected by police of raping a 19-year-old mentally disabled man in the woman’s bathroom of Miller Park about 2:15 a.m. June 4.
Deputy Public Defender Jose Franco told the judge he needed more time to gather key evidence. Terran will next appear in court 1:30 p.m. Aug. 12 in San Martin.
According to police interviews and reports, an awkward sexual encounter ensued between the two, beginning with the promise of a cigarette. Terran told police the early morning encounter was consensual, according to an interview transcript kept in the court file.
