A 16-year-old male was arrested after police spotted him walking in broad daylight with a 20-gauge shotgun.

The juvenile was seen walking in the area of Rogers Lane and Lewis Street by an Anti-Crime Team officer at 6:20 p.m. Friday. The officer saw the teen try to hide a shotgun down the front of his pants. The officer approached the teen and a foot pursuit ensued. During the chase, the teen threw the gun into bushes near San Ysidro Park, police said.

When he was captured, police said they found ammunition for the shotgun, he was a ward of the court and had an active arrest warrant for violating probation.

The teen was booked into juvenile hall on suspicion of possession of a firearm, possession of ammunition and a violation of probation.
