Dear Editor,
There needs to be serious enforcement of the blight law. There
should not be the eyesores that are in certain sections of the
city; many areas have been like that for 20 years.

There is no excuse for old vehicles, farm equipment and junk in the front yards, driveways, and the street. It wouldn’t surprise me if those properties were rented under Section 8’s. The renters don’t care and the landlords only concern is the money they receive from the tenants or the government.
Gilroy is a nice town. All who live there should take pride in that and maintain the residences. What good does it do to pass ordinances if they are not enforced? There also needs to be cooperation with the county in regards to the small pockets not yet annexed into the city.
It would be nice if the city and county could make combined efforts to get the blight and eyesores cleaned up. There is no excuse for those conditions to exist.
