Gilroy – Kay’s Kids struck for seven runs in the second inning and held on to defeat Toby’s Girls 7-6 and take the Women’s D League Championship Series 2-0 Friday at Christmas Hill Park.
Four of the six series held Friday resulted in sweeps. Two series, the Men’s B and CC, are 1-1 with third games tonight. Team Talamo and Craig Avila Bail Bonds play at 7:40pm at Las Animas Park. California Silk Screening and Aladdin Bail Bonds-Rhino Wiring play at 6:30pm at Christmas Hill.
Kat Corrales lined two singles in the Kay’s third frame. Corrales, Marie Lucio and Brenda Maquinalez each mustered three hits for the champions. Kelly Kramer went 2-for-2 and Elena Ayala roped a two-run home run for Toby’s Girls.
Goldsmith Seeds secured the Women’s C title with a 9-8 edging of Pacific Coast Bail Bonds. Jessica Simpson carried the Goldsmith attack, delivering an RBI-single, three-run triple and score-tying double. Tanya Reyes went 4-for-4 and Vicki Velasquez stroked a run-scoring triple and sacrifice fly for Pacific Coast.
The Slammers needed eight innings to slip past Blackout Window Tinting 11-9 in Men’s D play at Las Animas.
Ben Garcia completed a 4-for-4 night with an RBI-single in the Slammer eighth. Noel DeLaTorre and Ken Hopf hit consecutive home runs for the champions. Julian Alesi hit two home runs and Andy Gutierrez added three singles to the Blackout offense.
Matias Franco hit two home runs and Mike Sandoval and John Carrillo added one each as Pro Electric took the Men’s CCC title with a 23-6 win over No Soup 4 You. Rick Castaneda and Eddie Castaneda each managed two hits for the Soup.
Jose Bueno went 4-for-4 and Mark Terrill roped a single, double and triple in a 24-22 Team Talamo win over Craig Avila Bail Bonds. Richie Rodriquez went 4-for-4 with a home run and Rich Rodriquez added four hits for Craig Avila, the defending league champion.
Steve Borgna went 4-for-4 and Joey Garcia added three hits and scored three runs to pace California Silk Screening past Aladdin Bail Bonds-Rhino Wiring 16-3.
