Kluck University prepped for the Women’s B League Championship
Series with a 6-5 comeback win over Williams Dental Lab in the
regular-season finale Tuesday at Las Animas Park.
Gilroy – Kluck University prepped for the Women’s B League Championship Series with a 6-5 comeback win over Williams Dental Lab in the regular-season finale Tuesday at Las Animas Park.
Kluck used five consecutive singles to plate two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning and give the winners a 6-0 mark for the second half. Kluck University and Williams Dental Lab meet in the best 2-of-3 series next month.
Alicia Hernandez lined a two-run single as Kluck struck for two runs in the first inning. Williams Dental Lab, the first-half B champion, responded with a 5-3 lead through five innings. Zenaida Norton and Cherie Somavia each tripled and scored for Williams. Melissa Taku and Michelle Barry combined singles in the sixth for the fourth Kluck run.
Norton took game batting honors with three hits.
The Loco Boys, the second-half Men’s DD champion, dropped a 10-9 contest to the Dirty Dozen Tuesday in the season finale for both clubs.
The Loco Boys (4-2) will face either Bracco’s Towing or New Hope Community Church in the Championship Series.
The Dirty Dozen, tied for second place at 4-2 with Walton & Sons Masonry, snapped a 9-9 tie when Mikey Reggiardo singled and scored on a two-out single by Jeff Elliot in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Alex Pena gave the Loco Boys a 2-0 lead in the top of the first with a home run. Dirty Dozen answered with a six-run first, keyed by consecutive RBI-singles from Reggiardo, Steve Aguirre and Joel Garcia.
Adam DeLeon’s two-run single led the Loco Boys to a three-run sixth to leave the Dirty Dozen with a 9-8 lead. Nathan Mandrell singled and scored on a Mike Pellicione sacrifice fly in the seventh for a 9-9 tie.
Tim Graves went 3-for-3 and scored two runs to help Walton & Sons Masonry to a 10-6 win over New Hope Community Church Tuesday at Christmas Hill Park.
Ted Tencati went 3-for-4 and Matt Elam provided two sacrifice flies for New Hope.
Louie & the Outlaws defeated No Soup 4 You 21-6. Louie Bobadilla hit a home run to begin play for the winners. Junior Vasquez went 4-for-5 and Leroy Martinez collected three hits and scored four runs for the Outlaws. Eddie Castaneda and Fausto Padilla each bagged three hits for No Soup 4 You.
