Dear Editor,

This letter is in response to the letter written by Flor Molina published April 25.

Flor, your first paragraph is so very correct – that the heading on my letter had nothing to do with the previous letter, written by Mr. Armendariz. But if you read my letter, that heading had nothing to do with my letter either. But I think the final paragraph in your letter is incorrect.

People who are citizens of a country are not automatically citizens of the country their ancestors lived in or we, “euro-Americans” (your term) would be citizens of all the countries our ancestors came from. Those countries would not allow that.

Spaniards were here before Mexicans, that does not automatically make their ancestors, citizens of America, they are citizens of Spain. We “euro-Americans” are now citizens of America and if we want to go back to the land of our ancestors, we then give up our American citizenship and apply to become a citizen of the country of our ancestors. But all of this moving from one country to another must be done legally.
