Dear Editor,

On behalf of Lewis Motorsports, I would like to thank the Gilroy Police Department motorcycle officers for making this Memorial Day Parade one that my grandsons will never forget.

I had told my grandsons, ages 7 and 8, about the pre laps before the parade. The boys wanted to ride their Quarter Midgets in the prep lap and were very excited about the idea. The boys had just returned from a state regional race and the cars where dirty to say the least. They worked most of Sunday cleaning and shining up the cars. They even arrived at the overflow parking lot behind the high school over an hour early, and were all pumped up and ready to ride. Needless to say they were upset to find out the pre-lap event had been cancelled. Enter Gilroy’s finest.

These officers felt sorry for the boys and with in a couple of minutes they were providing a police escort up and down 10th Street for my grandsons and only my grandsons. Again, I’d like to thank the officers who gave my grandsons a day they will never forget. THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES!!!

Grandpa Tom Lewis, Gilroy
